Dentistry for kids

At what age should a child first visit the dentist?

At Samaha Dental Center, we do our utmost to make your child’s first visit fun, fast and comfortable. Your child will be provided with the highest-quality care, tailored to their unique dental needs.

We suggest that your child’s first visit to the dentist occur between the ages of 2 and 3. For this first visit, our main goal is to diagnose unseen problems and familiarize your child with the dental office. We also use this opportunity to provide parents with helpful information on how to best care for their children’s teeth.

How do I take care of my child’s teeth?

Early childhood tooth decay is one of the most common chronic diseases in the world.
Although every child has different needs, here are some general health habits that can help reduce your child’s risk of suffering from this debilitating disease:

  1. Limit or eliminate sugar consumption.
  2. Avoid sugary drinks in your child’s bottle; milk or water only.
  3. Incorporate teeth brushing into your child’s daily routine from an early age.
  4. Bring your child in for regular dental visits.

What to do in an emergency?

For any emergency, it is very important to call your dentist as soon as possible. At the Samaha Dental Center, we are often able to give you a same-day appointment. Should you or a loved require emergency care, please do not hesitate to contact us today.

What is orthodontics for kids?

Children as young as 4 or 5 years old can benefit from early childhood orthodontics. At that age, we won’t be placing braces but mainly dental devices that will help guide the healthy growth of their teeth. By intervening early, we can better prepare their mouths for adult teeth, simplify future treatments, or, in some cases, completely eliminate the need for braces.
